Wander Diaries – A Peek at Morocco

In April of this year I finally made my way to Morocco! Arriving in Morocco was not without its challenges. A group trip that had been talked about for years, it was decided in 2019 that our ensemble of seven Canadian travellers would visit in September of 2020. HA HA HA HA HA! We all know that plan did not happen. The next selected date was fall 2021 – we booked our tour on sale, got our shots, collected our papers and subsequently had the trip cancelled due to that nasty worldwide virus that morphed into the form of Omicron. But! A light was shone before our group of seven (pun intended). We could rebook at the sale price and set our sites for September 2022. So we did! But it did not stop there. In the end, it was only five of seven that set off to this North African country at that time. Our fun-loving group of women included my sister and I. Unfortunately, due to a family situation, she and I had to make a decision — which one of us would go and which would stay. In the end, it was I who stayed, forfeiting the tour. Another member of our entourage also decided not go in September. Instead, we rescheduled for April 2023. Needless to say, this is one trip that was long time coming! Yet it was so worth the wait! Although it was disappointing that our complete group did not travel together, this trip in April was more than I expected. It was a full trip with amazing people.

As I stated in my previous post, writer’s block has been plaguing my mind. I am hoping it subsides soon; however, I can post photos. Here are some highlights of this wonderful 2-week small group tour of the Kingdom of Morocco. When the words come back to me, I intend to share more.

Late afternoon desert sky.
