A Septemeber rewind and future wanderings
It seems that 2025 is quickly becoming a memory, as we are already halfway through January 2026. This year is still new, only in its infancy, and yet, on a global level, it seems as if it’s in the “terrible twos”. I hope that things do not not become more chaotic, as this decade has had more than enough of that. For me, however, 2025 was a good travel year, and I hope 2026 will continue on that trajectory.
Since my previous travels to both the Netherlands and Poland, I wandered west, back to Asia. In September I revisited Singapore after eight years and then made my way to the Southern Hemisphere for the first time when I touched down in Indonesia. In both places, I found myself red-faced and a hot, sweaty mess—and I couldn’t of been happier!
A few days in Singapore gave me memories of yummy food, a cherished tea ceromony expeirence, and wanting to see even more of this incredible city-state. I do find it a wonderful locale with plenty to offer (especially for your tastebuds). Shortly after, I found myself outside of Yogyakarta, falling in awe of Borobudur Temple—an incredible bucket-list landmark and UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Finally, I spent my birthday in Bali, a destination I have wanted to visit for a long time. My day was spent wading into the Indian Ocean and sipping drinks while watching the sunset. I explored the island amidst its wild traffic and was charmed by the warmth of the locals. Bali itself is lush and beautiful (albeit very busy and touristy), and I hope to return to explore and wander some more. Until then, please take a peek at my photos below.
As for 2026…. it will be somewhat less planned. Usually,at the start of each year, I have an idea of when I will wander, with the where often coming after research or opportunity. This year, it will be less of both the when and the where. Of course, my usual domestic trips to visit family and friends in BC and Ontario are always in the works. In fact, they are the only trips booked thus far. As for everything else… I guess I wait and see.
