A beach of tiny waddling tuxedos are on my wish list
One does not need to go to Antarctica to see penguins. Even though a trip to the bottom of the world is intriguing, it is not the only place to see these adorable flightless birds with their tuxedo-like markings. A well-known beach in the town of Simon’s Town has flocks of these birds. Imagine seeing these tiny tuxedos waddling along. The cuteness is almost too much! Located along the coast of False Bay, Boulder’s Beach allows for the viewing of close to 3,000 African Penguins as they waddle about their seaside home.

The photo ops would be inumerable! Seeing these adorable birds tottering about can be done in a few ways. The beach, located within Table Mountain National Park, is close to Simon’s Town, which in turn is a suburb of the City of Cape Town.
Options include:
- Trains from Cape Town via Cape Town Trains
- Driving to Simon’s Town
- via taxi or ride share
- car rental (and perhaps even staying a couple days in this popular tourist locale)
- Booking a tour from Cape Town
As the area is within Table Mountain National Park, there is an entry fee and is a marine protected area with conservation efforts in place. For viewing, there are boardwalks across the beach to allow you to see these cuties. Additionally, you can go onto the beach to get up close, but please do not touch them! They are wild and may attack. Besides, we don’t need to interact with them in that way. Look, take some photos, and leave them to their own cute selves. The beach is also sheltered by enormous boulders, keeping away strong winds and waves. Even though it is sheltered, it is a good idea to keep tide times in mind. An information centre has also been set up in the park to learn more about these delightful yet endangered birds.

Although I haven’t been to Cape Town (yet), I do have a friend who will be visiting and I cannot wait to hear the about their stories. Would you visit Boulder’s Beach to see some adorable penguins? Comment below.
