Romania is to the north of Sofia and Macedonia to the west.  Greece and Turkey are to the south and the Black Sea is to the east.  Bulgaria has a population of 7.4 million people.

Bulgaria is the oldest country in Europe that hasn’t changed its name. Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria was founded 7000 years ago!  This makes it the 2nd oldest city in Europe!

Sofia, is the only big city in Europe that is just 15 minutes away from Vitosha – a huge mountain. Black Peak (Cherni Vrah), is 2290 metres at its highest peak.  You can hike and ski on this mountain.

When the first McDonald’s opened in 1994, people would stay for hours! They had to  put up a sign, ‘Buy. Eat. Go.’ and imposed a one-hour time limit!

Eeva loved Sofia, Bulgaria because it was so pretty and the people were very nice to her.
